Sonos Arc Ultra
Full Technical Specifications
The Sonos Arc Ultra is the 2025 flagship soundbar from Sonos, positioned as a successor to the original Arc. It introduces a 9.1.4-channel spatial audio architecture within a single, standalone unit. The core innovation of this model is "Sound Motion" technology, which utilizes a four-motor, dual-membrane woofer to deliver double the bass output of its predecessor while maintaining a slimmer physical profile. Unlike the Samsung Q990F, the Arc Ultra is primarily sold as a standalone bar, though it is designed to be expanded within the modular Sonos ecosystem.
Audio Technologies and Processing
The Arc Ultra features 14 Sonos-engineered drivers, including seven silk-dome tweeters (two of which are upward-firing), six mid-woofers, and the proprietary Sound Motion woofer. These are powered by 15 Class-D digital amplifiers. It supports high-end audio formats such as Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, and Multichannel PCM, though it lacks support for DTS:X, supporting only standard DTS Digital Surround. For room-specific optimization, it uses Trueplay tuning, which is now compatible with both iOS and Android devices. Dialogue clarity is managed through an advanced AI-powered Speech Enhancement system with three customizable levels.
Hardware Connectivity and Video Support
Connectivity on the Arc Ultra is streamlined, featuring a single HDMI eARC port. It does not include additional HDMI inputs for direct console or player passthrough, requiring all external devices to be connected directly to the television. It supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for high-bandwidth streaming and Bluetooth 5.3 for direct device pairing. For those with legacy systems, an optical audio adapter is sold separately. The system is fully integrated with Apple AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect, and it features a dedicated hardware switch on the rear to physically disconnect the far-field microphone array for privacy.
Physical Dimensions and Logistics
The soundbar is designed with a "racetrack" aesthetic, measuring 1178.0 x 75.0 x 110.6 mm. It weighs 5.9 kg, making it slightly lighter and lower-profile than the original Arc, which helps prevent obstruction of modern TV bezels. It is available in matte black or white finishes. For wall mounting, it utilizes a standard M5 thread pitch. The unit contains an internal power supply compatible with 100-240V and is powered by a quad-core A55 1.9GHz processor with 2GB of SDRAM and 8GB of NV memory to handle its complex spatial processing and future software updates.
